Eye of the Storm Book Review

Eye of the Storm: Where Evil Lies
Naomi Paige

Book Description

Evil has come to ravage the Earth. The battle for the souls of man has begun. Who will win?

THE DAWN OF EVIL SERVES AS A SPRINGBOARD FOR THE DECLINE OF THE HUMAN SOUL AND THE INEVITABLE APOCALYPSE OF THE EARTH AS WE KNOW IT. IT IS LEFT UP TO JUST A FEW BRAVE SOULS TO HUNT EVIL THROUGH THE THRESHOLD OF TIME WHERE IT BEGAN IN THE YEAR 1200BC, AND WHERE IT WILL FIND ITS END.

Eric Jonas lived a life of misery from a street kid of Brooklyn, New York to a New York Detective consumed by fear, hate, insecurities, and haunting memories from his past. He had seen more death and destruction than any one person should ever have had to witness in one lifetime.

However, what he didn't know was that evil had crossed the gateways of time, and had planted itself deeply into the minds of us all, so that one day, it may claim the souls of humanity and the earth forever. He had not sensed the evil within him, growing stronger, controlling his every move.

Eric found strength and wisdom through the word of God, and vowed to be an enemy of evil. He swore to hunt it down and kill it. Through a tsunami storm sent by Cain to destroy and cause pain and chaos, which he conjured up with the use of a powerful weapon called the Jagawak, Eric with the Warriors of Light and a few others crossed the gateway of time to the land of Nok, the year 1200 BC, where evil began, and must be put to rest during a great battle. It is up to him and others like him to save us all.

My Thoughts

I think overall the book was ok and the author clearly had a good plot and it would have been a good story had there not been so many inconsistences. The story tended to jump around a lot when it came to timing. I felt like a lot of the important details were missing in those chunks of time.  I found it really difficult to like Eric as the hero, considering all the domestic abuse that happened. I have read some other reviews and I agree with them, when it comes to domestic abuse there are a lot of factors that go with it. Emotional abuse is one of them and there was a major lacking of that. It just didn’t flow very well for me.

I had a hard time stomaching the abuse scenes as well. I feel like this was supposed to be a good versus evil book but I couldn’t quite get that from it. The hero was rather bad in my eyes and the book focused more on the relationship at least that how I feel. I also would have liked to see how they went from having all those problems to being happily married because clearly that doesn’t happen overnight.

As someone else has said already it really did need some editing, there were a lot of mistakes.

I really did want to like this book and I think the plot itself has potential and so does the author it just needs a lot of editing and attention to detail. Then it could be turned into a great piece.
