Merge
Renata
F. Barcelos
A
sequel to MEAN and My Sore Hush-A-Bye
Book Description:
- ** Please note that this short story (around 8K words) is a SEQUEL to
Mean: A Psychological Thriller Novelette and My Sore Hush-a-Bye.
Do not read it before these books if you don't want those stories to be spoiled!
**
Cassandra Connelly and Camille Marie Jones: two women who
suffered unthinkable child abuse. Their lives were forever stained by their
ordeals during their childhoods.
The way they reacted to it, however, was
completely different.
Five years after the events of Mean: A
Psychological Thriller Novelette and My Sore Hush-a-Bye, see what
happened to Camille and Cassandra, and how they will react when facing one
another.
My Thoughts:
So as you have all probably
figured out by now I truly just adore everything Renata writes. Her writing is
brilliant and Merge is no different. It is the sequel to her two first books, MEAN:
A psychological thriller and My Sore Hush-A-Bye, both of which I have reviewed
and loved. So if you haven’t read those you will need to before you read Merge
or you will be totally lost. Now that I have clarified that! Let me express my
feeling for this book!
So
in my review for My Sore Hush-A-Bye I wrote about how people need to realize
the deeper effects of child abuse and really look at that. Well in this book
Camille is doing a thesis on the ‘Criminal effects of child abuse’ I was really
blown away. I love how Renata has Camille focusing on that and moving on in the
right direction with her life. It takes the reader in a great direction.
At
the end of My Sore Hush-A-Bye, I really wasn’t sure which way Camille was going
to go. I was worried she wasn’t going to make anything of herself; she was in
such a deep state of denial for so long about Bob. However I loved this
continuation of her story and where her career choice has taken her,
I
adore the fact that Renata did a story with Cassandra and Camille together, it
was completely brilliant and it was blended together flawlessly.
Cassandra
has changed completely from her book MEAN, she has completely given up her calm
reserve and let the mean overtake her. That was rather interesting to read. The
damage to her cannot be undone it seems.
The ending to this book just left me hankering
for more. What a thought to leave you with! I won’t say what but I assure you,
it will mess with your mind and those are my favorite kind of books. Another fantastic
book from an amazing author!
*I recieved this book from the author in
exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. I did not recieve
compensation for this review.
