My Thoughts

Ok this book was a little bit better than the last one that I read by Glenn but I am still having a lot of issues. I need a book, I consider stories that are this many pages to be either a short story or a novella. This is not a complete book to me. I’m sorry but it’s just not, all of them have been extremely short and I am starting to think that maybe he should have put them all together and they would have made up a book.

Like I said before I like the story, I think it is very informative and he is doing a great thing by speaking out about what happened in prison while he was there. He is exposing who and what is corrupt but I just think it could be done better.

I really do enjoy what he has to say and the story he has to tell but I just feel like a lot of the details are missing and there is not enough to the story. It’s just too short for me and the ending always makes me feel like I was left hanging.

Maybe I am being too harsh but I really want to  like these book and I would just like to see them improved upon.

Planet Janitor Book Review

Planet Janitor: Custodian of the Stars
Chris Stevenson
Sci-fi

Book Description

Captain Zachary Crowe and the crew of Planet Janitor Corporation are adept at handling environmental clean-ups and close system jumps to collect precious ores and space trash. The problem is they have yet to complete an assignment without a mishap to add to their not so stellar record. Scraping the bottom of the barrel, Orion Industries contracts Planet Janitor for a clandestine operation that no one else wants, offering them more money than they could spend in three lifetimes. The mission entails a 12 light-year trip to a newly found habitable planet in the Tau Ceti system. The crew will lose 26 years on Earth due to the cryo jump, but that is the least of their problems. What they find on Tau Ceti will rattle their wits, test their courage, and threaten their very survival.

My Thoughts

Ok so science fiction is not really my favorite genre and sometimes I even have a hard time following it. ‘Planet Janitor’ however was not the case I actually enjoyed this suspense filled novel. It was an adrenaline filled fast paced adventure.

From the moment they arrive on the planet nothing goes right. They are faced with some crazy fierce monsters that they are unprepared to battle.

It had a lot of heart and I know the author is going to do big things in the science fiction world if not other genres as well.

There were a few unbelievable parts in the book for me, and a few over used alien clichés but I guess that is to be expected and I will forgive it because it takes a lot for me to lot a book in this genre and I did like this one.

I enjoyed this book and I hope to read more from Chris soon.

My Thoughts

So this is the second book by Glenn that I have read, overall it was an intriguing story to read about Glenn’s experience in prison. However I did find a lot of issues with this book. The book was very short and had a lot of grammatical errors. I found it very hard to follow and there were a lot of run on sentences.

I found that very disappointing because I really like the first book I read by Glenn and I was really looking forward to this one but I am afraid to say it fell short for me. I really like the story that he has to tell and I believe it should be told. He has been through one hell of an experience and I think it should be told to the world. I just think he should maybe get a few beta readers to take a look at his books before he publishes them, that way they can catch these errors and it won’t be a problem.

I really hope he continues to write and share his story, you get better with practice and I certainly wouldn’t give up. Glenn has the talent for it and he has a great story to tell he just needs to polish the work.

I hope to read more from him in the future.

Lady Languish Book Review

Lady Languish
S.C.D Goff
Fiction/ Paranormal

Book Description

After her Uncle Malachy terrifies Evangeline Languish on her 16th birthday, she is abandoned at a boarding school by her parents. But when Evangeline discovers a strange young man, injured and alone, she is forced to change her mind about everything she knew. Could Malachy's stories be true? Evangeline must face her uncle once more ... can she get to him before he kills everything she loves?

My Thoughts

I thought ‘Lady Languish’ was a rather intriguing story. I believe it was different from the typical reads in this genre. To begin with the writing style was very different than the usual vampire tale that we see in today’s reads but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think the writing was done beautifully and I loved the way the story was told.

I think the descriptions of the boarding school and the Irish country side was done flawlessly.

I think Dublin was the perfect setting for this story, it was brilliant.

I just adored this story, I loved the characters although I do think Sive turned out to be my favorite, she was just too adorable.

There were a few mistakes, for instance the spelling of a character’s name changed from Ms. Goulding to Ms. Goulder. There were a few other mistakes that I caught but nothing that a quick edit can’t fix.

I thought ‘Lady Languish’ was a breath of fresh air in this genre and it was beautifully done, I would recommend it.

Thrones of Desire Book Review

Thrones of Desire: Tales of Swords, Mist, and Fire
Edited by Mitzi Szereto
Fantasy/Erotica

Book Description

Thrones of Desire is a place where lust and legend abound, and adventure, passion and danger entwine. Think mystical lands and creatures, kings and queens, knights and renegades, heroes and villains, warlords, maidens and princesses. Think battles and danger, honor and dishonor, good and evil. Most of all, think hearts filled with passion and secret desire. This is a place where romantic chivalry is alive and well, but so too is romantic wickedness. This is a place where the good do not always win, and the bad are often more captivating and desirable than their altruistic counterparts. In these lush and timeless landscapes, the battle for flesh can be as important as the battle for power. Intrigue, sorcery, revenge, lawlessness, dark secrets and mysterious elixirs; entanglements with supernatural beings — everything is possible in these magical mythical landscapes. Inspired by Game of Thrones these imaginative steamy tales transport the reader to fantastical realms.

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed this anthology; it has a great selection of erotic short stories which I found to be rather tantalizing. I have always enjoyed stories about dragons and lords and ladies but they have to be told right in order for me to read them and keep my interest. I have to say I am rather picky when it comes to this genre.

This compilation however kept my interest throughout the whole thing. I liked that the stories were short and to the point but yet they told a complete story. There were a few that left a little to the imagination but that is too be expected in a compilation of short stories. There will always be one or two the reader doesn’t care for at least in my opinion there is.

I enjoyed the style of writing as well, it was done flawlessly. It took me back to a mystical time where lords ruled and dragons flew around freely. I could only imagine the possibilities. I also liked that they erotica was talked about in the preface, explaining that it is usually either for men or women never both. I feel that this anthology could easily be considered appealing to both genders. I would recommend this book. It was a very lovely compilation.

A Dragon Forsaken Book Review

A Dragon Forsaken
Enchanted Island Series Book 2
Krystal George
Paranormal/Fantasy

Book Description:

In a world of mystery and magic, Daphne is unique. Unlike her friends, who have awakened to the magic inside of them, Daphne was born with it. Daphne was born a Dragon. When her past begins to resurface, forcing her into a web of lies and deception, she is forced to accept unexpected alliances and risk everything for the sake of love. Something that she swore she would never let into her life. As the newest installment of The Enchanted Island Series unfolds, she'll learn that nothing is ever what it seems, and when webs get this tangled, everyone's fate hangs in the balance, and nothing is coincidence.

My Thoughts

I was definitely sucked into ‘A Dragon Forsaken’; it was an absolutely amazing read. I was first introduced to these characters in ‘The Witches Lottery’, the first book in the Enchanted Island Series. I really enjoyed that book and immediately fell in love with those characters. This book revolves around Daphne the dragon. Daphne was introduced in the first one but she played a very small role and I didn’t really gravitate towards her. This book however blew my mind.

Daphne has become my favorite character in the series. Her story is absolutely captivating, tragic and yet beautiful. The story was written beautifully and I loved how nothing that happened in this story was coincidental, everything happen for a reason and it all tied together in the ending. I didn’t see any of that coming. Daphne is such a strong character; she wants to take on all her problems herself and refuses to ask for help because she does not want to ask for help.

However she finds out the hard way that she does need help and that she’s not all alone she has a family, a bigger one that she realizes. I love Daphne and I really enjoyed her story. She always wanted to be normal and now someone is messing with her life, and she is turning into the monster she always feared she would become.

Daphne is my kind of heroine, she is fierce, kick butts now ask questions later kind of girl, who eventually realizes she needs help, and falls in love.

Her and Teagon were amazing together, I loved that!! My favorite couple now too!

I also love how Krystal ended the book with a sneak peak as to what the third book is going to be about! I can’t wait to read Gianna’s story!

Another amazing book from Krystal George, count me in for the rest of this series.

The Witches Lottery Book Review

The Witches Lottery
Enchanted Island Series Book 1
Krystal George
Paranormal/ Fantasy

Book Description

When Sophia and Drew McKibben's parents are killed in a tragic car accident, they are shipped off to live with an aunt they never even knew existed. Believing that they are moving to a privately owned island just off of the coast of Mystic, CT to live alone with her, they are surprised to find a sort of under-aged bed and breakfast. Sophia draws the attention of one of the locals, Falen, immediately. He always seems to know exactly what she is thinking, and to her frustration, everything she does seems to amuse him. When a newcomer to the island brings with him a sense of deja vu, she begins to ask herself the ultimate question: Am I going crazy? Sophia's world starts to unravel when she notices her own brother acting just as abnormal as the rest of them. When she begins to realize that the life she left behind looks even more bizarre then the one she was forced to leave it for, she's faced with a decision to make: embrace the new life that has been given to her, or drown in the past. Either choice brings with it more secrets and deceptions to unearth. The problem now is that the two worlds may actually be more intertwined than she thought.

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed ‘The Witches Lottery’ it was a fun, fast paced read. This book has all the mythical creatures you could ever want warlocks, witches, prophets, leprechauns, selkies, and even dragons. I’m pretty sure I even missed a few. So if you enjoy fantasy or paranormal reads, this book is definitely right up you alley.

I thought it was a very beautiful story with a main character that I could relate to. She loses her parents and really feels lost and confused in this world but she is determined not to give up. She has to keep living her life and take care of her brother but she finds it hard to trust anyone, with good reason because her and Drew, her brother are sent to an island to live with an aunt she has never met before. Strange things start happening and it’s up to Sophia to figure them all out.

I like that Sophia wasn’t your typical heroine, she was quirky and a little bit unsure of herself but she also finds so much strength from what her parents did for her. I enjoyed all the different mythical creatures in this book; it was cool to see them all in this element, all of them working together and as a sort of family. ‘The Witches Lottery’ had a great plot and I really found myself getting lost in the story.

It was one heck of an adventure and I found myself on the edge of my seat, dying to know what was happening to Sophia and what was going on, on this island. Oh and the ending, oh my talk about a good ending! That really threw me for a spin.

It was a great read, with fun intriguing characters, and I can’t wait to read more about them. It was really a mystifying book and I would highly recommend it!
